What is Simply Resolved?

Simply Resolved is an online dispute resolution platform using Molly, our AI negotiator and the skills of an experienced mediator to assist disputing parties in resolving their dispute.

Why use Simply Resolved?

Simply Resolved brings parties together to resolve their disputes in a quicker, more cost-effective manner compared to going to court.

You may have been invited to use Simply Resolved by a party with whom you are in dispute - it is likely that they see Simply Resolved as faster, easier and cheaper means - for both parties - of dispute resolution.

Simply Resolved encourages parties to find a mutually acceptable solution to their dispute. Simply Resolved does this by helping the parties exchange information and allowing the parties to better understand the issues between them. It then allows for the exchange of offers of settlement and, if that does not result in settlement, brings an experienced third party neutral mediator into the conversation to help the parties find common ground. The success rate for mediation is 80%.

Why not go to court?

Time: Currently cases in the court system are taking 78 weeks from the point of issue to get to trial. Simply Resolved aims to resolve your dispute in 21 days.

Cost: Even as a defendant there are costs involved in defending a claim. You may wish to seek legal advice or instruct a barrister torepresent you at the hearing. There will also be the costs of your time in filing documents, responding to court requests and meetingstrict deadlines. If you are self-employed that is time that is lost to your business.

Uncertainty: Defending a claim in court means that you are giving control of your case and its outcome to the court system. You have little control over timing, hearing dates and filing deadlines and might have to live with the stress of this uncertainty for over a year.

Risk: There are risks in going to court - including the risk that you will lose and find yourself liable for the other side’s legal costs. Simply Resolved aims to manage those risks by allowing both parties to remain in control of their dispute and its resolution.

What have I got to lose by using Simply Resolved?

Very little. In the event that you do not settle your dispute through Simply Resolved then you will still be free to use the court process. Using Simply Resolved, even if it does not result in settlement, will have clarified the issues between the parties and therefore reduced the costs of proceeding through the courts. You will be in a better place to assess your risk of proceeding to trial and a judge determining the matter.

What does it cost?

The first stage of Simply Resolved, the facilitated negotiation using Molly, costs £25 per party. In the event that settlement is not achieved then the cost of a third party expert mediator will be split between the parties according to the value of the claim.
